I have never heard the abortion debate ask the question: “when does God create the spirit?”.
Evangelical’s typicality have a very soulish understating of spirit. Most of them think SPIRIT means “sincere”, or “thankful” or “better”.
Few evangelicals understand the statement “God is SPIRIT”.
One of the clearest references to the difference between flesh and spirit is in Genesis 6.
3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” ”
(Genesis 6:3, NKJV)
Clearer still is John 3
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
” (John 3:6, NKJV)
So back to the abortion debate. Zechariah 12:1 say that God forms the spirit of man within him. The question now is, “when does God do this?”
That is most powerful anti-abortion argument ever.
The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:
