In the modern church, Christlike has been reduced to being patient and kind, and not much else.
It is certainly difficult for Adamic man to be patient and kind and denying self is a Biblical concept, but when we read Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and the Revelation of Jesus Christ we see a hell of a lot more than patient and kind.
The obsession with patience and kindness is not a complete Biblical picture of Christ but an attempt at controlling and limiting Christ.
Elected and Predestined to be Conformed to the Image of Christ
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. ” (Romans 8:28–30, NKJV)
Escaping Moses and Becoming Spiritual
15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. ” (2 Corinthians 3:15–18, NKJV)
Understanding that Death precedes Life
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. ” (Philippians 3:7–11, NKJV)
Christ Expects us to Overcome
7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” ”(Revelation 21:7–8, NKJV)
