To some, this may sound scary, dangerous, or heretical but in reality, it is safe and humble. We are human and still imperfect regardless of how hard we try.
I obviously believe everything I say, teach and preach, unless I actually state that my opinion is tentative.
It is actually safe and useful to rate your own conviction and say that this is probably 50% true or 90%.
The advantage of not claiming to be perfect is one creates an opportunity for one’s Disciples and Hearers to Think and Reason to Learn and Grow for themselves while still offering strong leadership and prophetic direction.
Don’t quote me
It is useless to say “Fred said, Fred said” which Christians typically do in their early days. We should listen and be impressed by powerful preachers, but we must still not go around quoting them.
Much rather Think, Learn, Grow, Read, Study, and then say: “God said” or, “Scripture says” or “I believe”.
Fathering & Mothering
Fathering is equip-and-release and mothering is nurture-and-control. Mothering is appropriate for babies and young children. Fathering is appropriate for older children and young adults. It creates capacity and depth.
Don’t Share Seeds
When you hear something profound and life-giving don’t run to outsiders and share the seed with them. Rather plant the seed in your heart. Let it Grow. Then others will come and see the tree, sit in its shade, eat its fruit, and ask you questions.
If you share exciting but immature revelations others will often destroy your revelation and you will suffer loss.
6 “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
