See 1 Samuel 8:20. Before the monarchy was established in Israel, God‘s people were guided by decentralized leadership, namely, ―a plurality of offices, including judges, elders, priests, and prophets. Yet none of these leaders united all aspects of Israel‘s social constitution under a single human office.
