There is only one church. All the elect of God are that church. The denominations and factions are just a terrible division around doctrine that creates the appearance of many churches. It is sad and in fact a disaster that the church is so divided against itself.
Doctrine is important and we cannot fellowship with all people regardless of doctrine but the divisions are not of God.
The powerful administration and marketing systems we create might appear to help from time to time but in the end they are of a different type of technology than that which God uses. Compare animals with robots – very different.
We will need to wisen up a lot for the days ahead, and work on perfecting the saints and the church in passionate anticipation of Christ’s return.
The Church is a building! A spiritual building with all the saints as living stones.
4. Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious,5. you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.6. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,
“Behold, I lay in Zion
A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”
7. Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,
“The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,”
8. and “A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.”
They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
