A Mystery being revealed by the Spirit

The things of God are revealed by His Spirit to man’s spirit. They must be embraced on that plane. The mind is renewed out of the Spirit.

16. Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16

4. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,5. that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.6. However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.7. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,8. which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.9. But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.11. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.13. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.14. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.15. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.16. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:4-16

Growing Spiritually is critical

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.13. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.14. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:12-14

Body dead is dead without spirit

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
James 2:26

The mystery of the church

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.23. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.24. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.25. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,26. that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,27. that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.28. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.29. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.30. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.31. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”32. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.33. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Ephesians 5:22-33

The mystery of the Church of Christ revealed by the Spirit

3. how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already,4. by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ),5. which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:6. that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,7. of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power. 8. To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,9. and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;10. to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,11. according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,12. in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.
