Apparent Contradictions – Paradoxes
There are many things that appear to be apparent contradictions in the Bible.
- Freewill vs Election
- Unconditional Love vs Obedient Love
- Forgiveness vs Judgement
- Faith & Works
- Victory over Sin vs Forgiveness for Sin
These paradoxes should be embraced as pointers for us to WALK and to BE in the Spirit.
The desire to reconcile doctrine or theology into a Statement of Faith or a two pager or some theological manual will never suffice.
God is Spirit
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:24
This statement is profound. We must also be “in SPIRIT and TRUTH” in order to worship him. Human logic and rational comprehension is not SPIRIT.
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.11. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.12. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.13. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.14. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.15. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

Superseding human wisdom and logic – is key to walking “in the Spirit”
that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,23. and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,24. and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:22-24
