I will build my church
Jesus said that he will build His church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.
18. “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18
God in His wisdom has given three sets of gifts for the building up of the Church.
These three sets are:
- The Gifts of the Father
- The Gifts of the Son
- The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The Gifts of the Father
We see in Romans 12:6-8 the gifts of the Father, also known as the Redemptive Gifts. These relate to the so-called, personality types, and have been popularized in the Myers Briggs test, the DISC Test or similar. (the unbelievers simply observing what God created)
- Prophet
- Servant
- Teacher
- Mercy
- Ruler
- Giver
- Exhorter
The Gifts of the Son
This set is listed in Ephesians 4.
These are individuals specifically gifted for “equipping the saints for the work of the ministry”.
They are:
- Apostle
- Prophet
- Evangelist
- Pastor
- Teacher
These are often called the Five-Fold gifts. These guys often end up in full-time ministry. These gifts are not given to “all believers” as Eph 4:11 specifically states he gave “some” to be.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The third set of gifts in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 that we call the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
There are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- Word of Knowledge
- Word of Wisdom
- Discerning of Spirits
- Prophecy
- Tongue
- Interpretation of Tongues
- Gifts of Healings (plural)
- Gift of Faith
- Gift of Miracles

What is important to note here is that God gives these gifts in different measures and capacity, to us so for the building up.
Healthy and proper church life will include all these various gifts in humble, powerful unison as God wills.
It’s critical we know, understand and operate in these gifts, and it is really exciting and enjoyable certainly Spiritual and Powerful.
Diligence is required
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. ” (1 Timothy 4:13–16, NKJV)
