Stauros University

What is a University?

A University is a place where you go to to stay and learn.

A community where there are older guys ( Fathers and Elders) who know a lot yet are still researching to learn more. Then there are youngmen who learn the basics and then also start researching.

The search for truth, in this case for the Revealing of Jesus Christ, specifically His Cross, is ongoing, never ending and mutual.

The Holy Spirit has perfect knowledge and is the teacher.   We are all learning, researching and growing.

oh Yes, contrary to Greco Roman intellectualism, we are more interested in eating Jesus than reading about Him…

The goal is a life of transformation and real power in the SPIRIT, not a degree only.

University

Just like the word universe (“the whole world”), university comes from the Latin word universus, meaning “whole, entire.” So think of a university as being sort of a world of its own — an institute of higher education where you live and study.

Universities must study and they must think and they must teach and disciple.

This is not purely Greco Roman intellectualism but must be SPIRIT which goes deeper and into another realm than purely academic knowledge.

Professor (n.)

late 14c., “one who teaches a branch of knowledge,” from Old French professeur (14c.) and directly from Latin professor “person who professes to be an expert in some art or science; teacher of highest rank,” agent noun from profiteri “lay claim to, declare openly” (see profess). As a title prefixed to a name, it dates from 1706. Short form prof is recorded from 1838.
Professor. One professing religion. This canting use of the word comes down from the Elizabethan period. [Thornton, “American Glossary,” 1912]
