The Knowledge of God

Theology is supposed to mean “Knowledge about God”. In the west however is really has become theory and speculation about God in most cases and salvation and regeneration and the working of the Spirit has been replaced by academic speculation.

“Knowing God” has more in common with being known, i.e. filled and impregnated, than with reading books or memorizing doctrine.

Its intimate, organic and life generating.

Knowing God

Being transformed by the renewing of our mind and growing into the KNOWLEGDE of GOD is integral to salvation.

“But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.34. “No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
Jeremiah 31:33-34

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.18. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18

The Knowledge of God

For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.
Habakkuk 2:14

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6

as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
2 Peter 1:3

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
2 Peter 3:18

Knowing means YADA

Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”
Genesis 4:1

The word “knew” here is YADA and it means, to know, to perceive or to be known and to be perceived”. It is this intimate process, of Adam knowing his wife, that generates life inside of her. We are “born again” or “begotten again” in the same way, albeit spiritually.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,4. to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
1 Peter 1:3-4

Renewing the mind is a key part of salvation playing our, and growing in us. Please note none of us are yet fully saved. Some aspects of salvation is past tense but the majority references to salvation in the New Testament are present continuous and many are future. We are being saved. It is crystal clear in scripture that we must continue faithfully to the end in order to be saved.

see Salvation is a process that must continue to the end

  1. There is only one book that ain’t no theory and that is His book. No theories about Himself.
